"Waking up has nothing to do with the non-dual nonsense being fed to people about transcending the self or singing mindless songs of devotion to some invisible force that couldn’t care less. It’s simply about taking a hard look at the present reality and choosing to take responsibility for it, rather than escaping into a fantasy of a better world."
I would love to hear more of your thoughts on your quote above. I find it so frustrating all this We are ONE bullshit, and that we CHOSE our suffering and our lot in life before we came in. These ideas seem to me to be mind control so that we ACCEPT the horror show, and do NOT stand up for ourselves and our Freedom to LIVE and explore this LIFE. People who answer me with this kind of ph- ILL osophy, seem to live in a daze. But, maybe I am missing something.
I'd point you to my essay "Forging the self" but i will try to explain my self more in future posts. Waking up isn’t about dissolving into some cosmic oneness or singing praises to an indifferent universe—it’s about seeing reality clearly and owning your place within it. Many spiritual teachings push transcendence as an escape from suffering, telling people to abandon the self or wait for divine intervention. But real awakening means facing the present moment as it is, without illusions, and taking full responsibility for your actions, choices, and environment. It’s not about dreaming of a better world—it’s about engaging with this one, fully aware and fully accountable.
I read Forging The Self. another fabulous essay!! So many excellent revelations.
I think pain certainly is a motivator, but it is a destroyer for far too many. The suffering purposefully created and implemented is serving it's purpose... to keep most feeling helpless and hopeless. You gave plenty of examples, of the child who chooses suffering by continuing to hate his own parents, over creating a meaningful life. We not only have to kill our parents (Joseph Campbell) but all who directed/hypnotized and lied to us to control our minds. Religions, teachers, government, and on and on. A full recapitulation of everything we believe, as the Toltec people have taught us, is in order.
I do not agree with the teaching that we NEED contrast to KNOW what we want. I do not even agree that we need suffering, especially at the levels being orchestrated. I am not saying that obstacles and challenge need to be done away with. I knew as a child that I did not need painful punishment to KNOW that adults who were patient and encouraging were preferred. It's just obvious, to a child anyway. A child doesn't need darkness and insecurity to just KNOW that the safety of warmth/ light, love, or trust, is best.
At this point the CONTRAST in order to "learn" and be motivated is beyond evil, but there are plenty who will still allow and agree to things being perpetrated in this world, because they were told as a child that punishment is good, that we are sinners and must pay for our sins, that we must all bear our crosses... on and on with this bullshit.
Anyway, you pointed to it all in this writing, the traps that keep us from waking up to the trauma based mind control.
And now those that Govern our minds tell us, we are going to have to go through some suffering, to fix the system.. The system they implemented while keeping themselves free from this suffering as they bring down the changes upon us.
I totally understand what you are saying here. I am here to fight against those who would inflict suffering, and to take my POWER into my own hands. I have been really contemplating lately this teaching about being parts of collectives, egregores, groups You are right, we are bombarded in every direction.. I would prefer to live deep in the forest then join any groups and embrace certain mindsets. This essay was fabulous, It is powerful, and so important. I do dream of a better world, I know the importance of our thoughts, and that is what is under control, and attack. But I also know it is up to us to act on our thoughts, if we want to see change. Suffering is very real, this life experience is very real, regardless of whether it's a dream, an illusion, a matrix, a simulation, a virtual reality, a Holographic display.... I feel some of these CONcepts, like non duality, are designed to keep us from our own power, our own wisdom, but even worse they were designed to keep us from DOING anything to stop the horror that is going on, to accept it, to allow it, and to disassociate from life.
